Our Expertise
Different eye conditions require different types of evaluation and treatment.
Cataract
- Symptoms include cloudy or blurred vision, glare at night, and glasses power that keeps changing.
- It can develop gradually. Vision changes may become noticeable over time.
- Common signs include: Blurred vision | Glare | Reduced night vision | Faded colours
Refractive Services
- Symptoms include blurred distance vision and dependence on glasses or contact lenses.
- It is considered for adults whose glasses power has been stable, and eligibility is confirmed after a corneal scan.
- Common signs include: Blurred distance vision | Dependence on glasses | Contact lens discomfort | Stable power for a year
Cornea
- Symptoms include eye pain, redness, light sensitivity, and hazy or blurred vision.
- It can follow an injury, infection or contact lens use, or develop slowly, as with keratoconus.
- Common signs include: Redness | Light sensitivity | Watering | Hazy vision
Pediatric Eye Care
- Symptoms include squinting, head tilting, sitting very close to screens, and eyes that do not look straight.
- Children rarely say they cannot see well, so signs are often noticed first by parents or teachers.
- Common signs include: Squinting | Eye turn | Frequent eye rubbing | Headaches while reading
Glaucoma
- Symptoms are often absent in the early stages. Side vision is lost first, and the loss is permanent.
- It usually develops silently, and the risk is higher with age, family history or diabetes.
- Common signs include: Loss of side vision | Frequent change in glasses power | Halos around lights | Eye pain or headache
Retina & Vitreous
- Symptoms include floaters, flashes of light, a shadow over part of your vision, and wavy or distorted central vision.
- It can develop gradually, as with diabetes or ageing, or suddenly, as with a retinal tear or detachment.
- Common signs include: Floaters | Flashes of light | Shadow in vision | Wavy lines
Oculoplasty
- Symptoms include drooping eyelids, constant watering, lumps or swelling around the eye, and eyelids turning in or out.
- It can be present from birth, develop with age, or follow an injury or infection.
- Common signs include: Drooping eyelid | Watering eyes | Eyelid lump | Eyelid turning in or out
Multiple specialists with one plan
Anand Eye Institute (AEI) began in 2001 as a dedicated vitreo-retinal centre, the first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh/Telangana.
Eye conditions rarely stay in one department. A blurry-vision visit can turn out to involve the retina, the pressure inside the eye, or the cornea.
At AEI, all seven specialities work under one roof, so specialists can look at the complete picture together.
Your case is examined from every angle, and where more than one condition is involved, our specialists review it together and agree on one plan.

Consultation
with your doctor.
Your Plan:
Medicines, more tests, or surgery. Cost and your scheme or insurance eligibility are discussed before you decide.
Good to know:
Consultations under Aarogyasri are covered by the scheme, though waiting times may be longer and patients may not be able to choose their doctor.
Your doctor sets your date and writes it on your prescription or discharge slip. Bring that slip, all your eye drops (even empty bottles), and your medicine list.
Good to know:
Don’t stop your drops before the visit unless told to. Missed your date? Call the branch where you were seen and reschedule.
- Your pre-surgery checks are done before your date.
- Your surgeon tells you which medicines to take that morning and whether you can eat. Follow it exactly.
- Surgery is at Habsiguda. Wear comfortable, front-opening clothes. No makeup, creams or jewellery.
- Bring your ID, scheme or insurance papers, medicine list, reports, and one attendant.
- Before you leave you get your medicines, a drops chart and your next visit date.
Good to know:
Share cashless insurance details as soon as surgery is advised, as approval takes time.
Your surgeon’s instructions come first.
- Use drops exactly as prescribed. Wash your hands first.
- Don’t rub or press your eye.
- Keep water and soap out of your eye. Avoid dust, makeup and heavy lifting until cleared.
- Wear the eye shield at night and sunglasses outdoors.
- Don’t drive until your surgeon says it is safe.
Call us the same day if you have:
Pain that medicine doesn’t ease, worsening redness, dropping vision, new flashes or floaters, a dark curtain across your vision, discharge, or any injury to the eye.
Taking eye care, to the city and the villages
Our Mission: No one should lose their sight because they can’t reach a hospital.
Most eye problems cause no pain at first. A camp brings the first check to where you live, whether that is a city neighbourhood or a village.
In the city
Hyderabad and Secunderabad
screened
We set up in neighbourhoods and community halls across the city, so a first check doesn’t mean a trip to the hospital or a day off work.
Mallapur · Nacharam · Boduppal · Cherlapalli · ECIL · Moula Ali · Habsiguda · Ramanthapur · Uppal · Tarnaka
In the villages
Towns and villages [Telangana]
screened
at camps
We travel to villages and towns where reaching a hospital is harder. We also go back where we’re needed.
Yadadri · Choutuppal · Shamshabad · Bhongir · Pochampally · Keesara · Ibrahimpatnam · Jangam · Manthani · Patancheruvu · Bibinagar
These camps are supported through donor and CSR funding. Learn how we’re making quality eye care accessible to every village.
Training and Research
The doctors who built AEI have spent decades teaching, and they haven’t stopped. Today, AEI trains ophthalmologists and eye-care professionals at every level. What we learn stays in the field, and reaches the next generation of doctors.
Learn from the doctors who treat you:
- Fellowship in Cornea and Refractive Surgery
- Fellowship in Retina
- Diploma in Optometry
- Diploma in Ophthalmic Assistant
These students are taught by AEI’s own specialists, with regular classes case discussions and surgical training.
Beyond the classroom:
Our students also work at Saveranand’s village eye camps, where they screen patients and see conditions that rarely reach a city clinic.
Meet Our Graduates:
“AEI gave me exceptional training, incredible mentors, and unforgettable memories.”
Dr. Sheikh Tahnoon | Specialist ophthalmologist

“The doctors here teach the way they treat: patiently, and with time for every question.”
