What does “cashless” mean? The scheme or insurer pays the hospital directly for
covered treatment, so you don’t pay at the counter for those items. Cashless does not mean everything is free.
Anything outside your cover, such as a lens upgrade you choose or an item your policy excludes, is paid by you, and we tell you which items those are before treatment starts.
Have more than one cover? A scheme card and a private policy, for example? Tell us when you register. We go through your options with you before treatment.
Not sure which applies to you?

Good to know: Waiting time is longer and the doctor is assigned on the day. Please plan extra time.
You pay: Nothing for the consultation, and nothing at the counter for covered treatment.
This is Telangana’s scheme. Andhra Pradesh’s Dr NTR Vaidya Seva is a different scheme, so call us if you hold that card.

You pay: ₹350 for the consultation. If you come with a credit letter it's free.
Referral: For planned treatment, get a referral from your CGHS wellness centre first. It is valid for 3 months. Planned surgery may also need prior permission. In an emergency, no referral is needed. Serving employees need a permission letter from their department.

You pay: ₹700 for the consultation.

Private health insurance
AEI works with 33 insurance and claim companies, including employer group policies.
A TPA (third-party administrator) is a company your insurer appoints to handle your claim. If your policy has one, its name is on your insurance card.
No matching provider found. Try another name.
How cashless works:
- Bring your insurance card, photo ID and earlier eye reports.
- We send your treatment details to your insurer for approval.
- Once approved, treatment begins. Planned surgery is at our Habsiguda branch.
- The insurer pays for covered items. You pay what your policy doesn’t cover.
Good to know:
- For planned surgery, tell your insurer 2 to 3 days before.
- Under IRDAI rules, insurers must decide on cashless requests within 1 hour and approve the final bill within 3 hours of discharge.
- Many policies have a 1 to 2 year waiting period for cataract surgery, and some cap what they pay per eye.
- Insurer not listed, or approval refused? Pay at the hospital and claim later. We give you the bills and reports you need.
- If a claim is rejected, ask the insurer for the reason in writing, then escalate to IRDAI or the Insurance Ombudsman.
You pay: ₹700 for the consultation. Have questions?
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I still pay anything if I’m covered?
The consultation fee is ₹700. It is ₹350 for EHS and CGHS, and free with Aarogyasri. For surgery, the scheme or insurer pays the hospital for covered treatment. You pay for anything outside the cover, such as a lens upgrade, and we tell you before treatment starts.
Is cataract surgery covered?
It depends on your cover. Aarogyasri does not cover cataract surgery, and our team will explain the cost and your options at your consultation. EHS and CGHS cover it, within their packages and approved rates. Private insurance usually covers it after your policy’s waiting period.
What should I bring?
Bring your scheme card or insurance card, or e-card, and a photo ID. For Aarogyasri, bring your white ration card, Aadhaar and a phone that can receive an OTP. CGHS card holders should also bring the referral from their wellness centre for planned treatment. Any earlier eye reports help too.
I have a scheme and a private policy. Which should I use?
Tell our team when you register. We will go through your options with you before treatment. The right choice depends on what you need done and what each cover pays for.
What if my cashless approval is refused, or my insurer isn’t listed?
You can pay at the hospital and claim the amount from your insurer later. We will give you the bills and reports you need. If your scheme or insurer isn’t on our list, call us. You can still be seen as a regular patient.
Will my private policy pay for everything?
Not always. Many policies make you wait one to two years before they pay for cataract surgery. Some cap what they pay per eye, and a premium lens that costs more than your limit is paid by you. Check your policy, or ask us before surgery.
How does the CGHS referral work?
For planned treatment, visit your CGHS wellness centre first and get a referral. It is valid for 3 months. Planned surgery may also need prior permission, and we tell you the papers you need when you book. In an emergency, no referral is needed.
Not sure what applies to you?
Tell us which card or policy you have. We will explain what it covers and what you’ll pay before your visit.
